🏝️LatinX in SI
LatinX in System Integration
Connecting LatinX voices shaping system integration worldwide
- International Forum
- Jan. 13, 2026, 16:00 pm
This forum aims at Latin American (LatinX) researchers from academia and industry working on (or interested in) system integration. It provides a space to share experiences and challenges, and to connect with other LatinX researchers within and beyond LATAM. Speakers from LATAM, Asia, Europe, and the United States will present current research that anchors this initiative. The format fosters open dialogue and knowledge exchange with the wider robotics, AI, and automation communities. Topics include system integration in advanced robotics, AI, and renewable & sustainable energies. The event is an opportunity to explore future directions for SII across academia and industry.
🐚🪸Description
LatinX researchers will share contributions to system integration from an international perspective (LATAM, Asia, the EU, and the US). The primary objective is to present current research themes of leading LatinX researchers spanning robotics, AI, and automation, from academic and industrial viewpoints. A broader goal is to share these themes with the wider research and industrial community to gather feedback and foster collaboration. Representative topics include human-robot collaboration and interaction, machine learning in industrial robotics and automation, and integration of renewable and sustainable energies.
🐚🪸Topics of Interest
Human-Robot Collaboration, Humanoids, Industrial Robotics, Service Robotics, Haptics, AI Systems, Renewable & Sustainable Energy
🐚🪸Invited Speakers
Ana María Quintero
United States
Ana María Quintero is an Industrial and Computer Engineer with a strong background in data science, operations research, and business intelligence. She holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from the Universidad de Los Andes and a Master's degree in AI from University College London (UCL). Ana has extensive experience developing data science and machine learning solutions across diverse industries. She serves as Program Manager at LatinX in AI (LXAI).
Abraham Ramos
United States
Abraham Ramos is an AI-Business Researcher and Finance Workshop Lead for the LatinX in AI (LXAI) organization. With over four years of finance and accounting experience, he supports international workshops at premier AI conferences around the world. As a researcher, he focuses on the artificial intelligence landscape in Latin America, translating market trends and policy analysis into actionable strategies.
Dr. Alberto Bortoni
Mexico
Alberto Bortoni is Director of the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Program at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico. His work explores artificial behavior in biological and robotic systems, and he leads research initiatives on such topics. Drawing on experience in autonomous robotic platforms and studies of aerial pursuit and navigation in flying animals, his approach emphasizes utilitarian, behavior-driven robotics rather than biomimetic design.
Dr. Luis Yoichi Morales
United States
Luis Yoichi Morales earned his M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Tsukuba, Japan. He has been a Research Scientist and Collaborative Researcher at ATR in Kyoto, served as an Associate Professor at Nagoya University (2016-2021), and is currently a Staff Senior Researcher at Standard Cognition in San Francisco, California. His research interests include autonomous navigation, spatial cognition, scene understanding, and environment modeling.
Dr. Arturo Cerón
Mexico
Arturo Cerón received his Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics from the Universidad de Monterrey in 2009, worked with HTWG Konstanz from 2009 to 2010, and earned his M.Eng. and Dr.Eng. degrees from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2012 and 2016, respectively. He has research and development experience in both industry and academia in mechatronics and robotics, and is currently a Full-Time Lecturer at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico.

🐚🪸Encouraged Interaction
Participation is open to all registered attendees of SII 2026 (no additional registration is required). The forum opens with three 15-minute invited talks providing a broad perspective on system integration, successful cases and challenges, followed by structured Q&A to emphasize collaboration opportunities with LatinX researchers in and outside LATAM. A concluding 15-minute moderated networking session will enable researchers, professionals, educators, and students to identify potential collaborations in a broad range of system integration and robotics topics. The forum aims to strengthen collaboration among LatinX researchers, particularly encouraging participation from a broader range of countries.
